    “The LPD Partnership Support Team, part of Leicestershire Police are looking to appoint an experienced Substance Misuse Officer to provide effective, specialist support to the Force’s Strategic Leads, Police Officers, Police Staff, and multi-agency partners relating to drugs and alcohol misuse issues. The post holder will assist in the management, development and delivery of policies, procedures, projects and partnership work that is affected by the misuse of drugs and alcohol.

    The Substance Misuse Officer post supports both the Force Strategic Lead with the delivery of the Force Plan for Substance Misuse and Safeguarding, and the Force Criminal Justice Lead to effectively deliver Drugs and Alcohol intervention services within the custody environment. You will support the integrated Offender Management Team with the effective delivery of assessments and referrals, in addition to providing support to Police Officers, Police Staff and external partners through awareness training and the use of internal and external publicity. The post will involve attending multi-agency working groups and strategic boards to represent Leicestershire Police and to support Police Officers and Staff. The post offers the opportunity to provide specialist support to Dedicated Neighbourhood Teams, engaging with schools and neighbourhood schemes/projects.

    The successful applicant will have experience of developing strategic objectives to meet the department’s operational plan, and be educated to A’ level standard in English Language or equivalent work experience requiring the use of English Language to that level. You must have substantial work experience of engaging with multi-agency partners in relation to drugs and alcohol misuse, and have proven experience of identifying good practice and benchmarking with other organisations. The post requires experience of working in partnership with other agencies, preparing and delivering presentations to various groups, conducting research and preparing accurate reports, whilst handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be computer literate, along with good organisational skills and a methodical approach to work. Having knowledge of National Drugs Strategy, Misuse of Drugs legislation, National Alcohol Strategy and legislation relating to licensing and other related policing issues is also essential, in addition to the ability and willing to travel.

    Applicants who are educated to European Computer Driving License (basic level), experienced in liaising with media, marketing, and criminal justice agencies, and have experience in the use of statistical data, monitoring information and project management, would be desirable to the post.”
