Description
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship.
Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
The Community Development team is looking for a full-time equivalent Community Development Coordinator, to cover the North Dorset hub in Gillingham, and the East Dorset hub in Wimborne, each 18.5 hours per week.
This role can either be 1 full-time position covering both North and East Dorset or split into 2 part-time positions covering North and East Dorset.
Please note in your application whether you want to be considered for a full-time role or a part time role. If part time, please also note which area you would like to cover.
Community Development is all about community engagement and collaboration, rooted in the Five Ways to Wellbeing. The Community Development Team offers and encourages service users to take an active part in their recovery by getting involved in being part of building strong and resilient recovery communities.
This is supported by the Reach teams and signposting to partners in Dorset as part of the treatment and care planning.
The activities offered by the Community Development Team are in addition to the structure interventions available to service users in the work with their Recovery Navigators, one to one support and group participation.
You must be passionate about creating and maintaining recovery communities for service users as well as linking with partner agencies in the community.
Your personal and professional skills need to demonstrate empathic understanding, open communication and listening skills, a friendly and warm person-centred and non-judgmental approach.
You need to be confident engaging with individuals as well as facilitating groups whilst listening to the lived experiences of people who use Reach services to develop creative thinking and innovative approaches to assist their recovery.
