HHE - Helping Hands Essex - is a registered charity with a continuing mission is to promote recovery from alcohol abuse, to the benefit of the individual, family and friends and the wider community. We offer an abstinent, full and structured programme to residential and non-residential clients in their early days free from alcohol.
Medium term funding has been secured so that the charity can ‘relaunch’ in H1 2019 and the Board of Trustees is seeking a new CEO to lead the strategic and operational challenges which lie ahead. Working closely with the trustees, this is an exciting role to drive a charity forward to greater and better things as well as providing leadership to the organisation, staff and volunteers.
The role is contracted at 35 hours per week over five days, with an element of flexibility to suit personal commitments. You will be based at our offices in Chelmsford although there will be times when travel across Essex and beyond may be required. You will be managing a growing team of mainly part-time staff with varied individual roles and commitments within the organisation and you will be responsible for a number of volunteers.
You must have proven managerial and leadership experience, exceptional organisational skills and be able to remain calm, with empathy and compassion even in difficult situations.
Whilst no specific level of education is expected, experience in the voluntary sector and/or alcohol rehabilitation would be an advantage. Access to personal transport would be expected.
Actual salary: £31,936 pa (£ 17.50 per hour)
A start date of April/May 2019 is expected and the role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
