Located in Stockport and Burnley, Acorn Residential Rehab Services provides a safe, welcoming, and CQC-regulated environment designed to help individuals and families overcome addiction.
With evidence-based programmes and a dedicated team of experienced counsellors qualified to at least Level 4 diploma, we are committed to guiding you through every step of your recovery journey.
Our team draws on both personal and professional experience, challenging stigma, inspiring change, and instilling hope – because we’ve been there too.
A THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMME THAT WORKS
At Acorn, we understand that addiction is complex, often rooted in past trauma or adverse experiences. That’s why our therapeutic programme focuses on helping clients uncover and address the underlying causes of their addiction. Participants gain a deeper understanding of how trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) have influenced their thinking and behaviours, leading to unhealthy patterns.
Through group work and assignments, clients challenge these self-defeating behaviours and learn healthier ways of coping. They also gain insights into building and maintaining healthy relationships by recognising how their attachment styles impact interactions. Our programme equips clients with the tools to foster resilience, better manage their thoughts, and adopt strategies for relapse prevention.
By the end of the programme, clients leave with a renewed sense of self and improved recovery capital, supported by a strong foundation for long-term recovery. The positive outcomes we see in clients’ wellbeing and resilience are a testament to the CORE programme’s effectiveness.
TAILORED AFTERCARE SUPPORT
Recovery doesn’t end with completing the programme, and neither does our support. We offer a tailored aftercare plan to suit individual needs, ensuring that clients continue to feel connected and supported as they transition into life beyond residential treatment.
As part of this support, all residential clients are invited to attend our weekly aftercare group, facilitated by our lead counsellor. These sessions provide a vital space for ongoing recovery protection, fostering connections within the community, and encouraging peer support. For those unable to attend in person, digital options are available to ensure accessibility.
Importantly, there’s no time limit on aftercare access – it remains available as long as abstinence is maintained. This flexibility allows clients to build a sustainable recovery at their own pace.
MOVE-ON HOUSING OPTIONS
For clients with no fixed address, Acorn offers move-on housing options to provide a stable foundation for recovery. Subject to availability and housing history, clients can transition into our community housing after completing the programme.
These shared properties offer individual bedrooms and dedicated support from housing workers who assist with key areas such as securing tenancies, managing wellbeing, and accessing local resources. Residents are also expected to participate in weekly aftercare groups and maintain regular contact with their support workers, creating a structured and supportive living environment.
Additionally, we work closely with local housing providers to prioritise long-term tenancy opportunities for those in our care, ensuring a smoother transition to independent living.
EDUCATION FOR A FRESH START
Empowering clients with new skills and knowledge is a cornerstone of our recovery approach. Acorn’s in-house learning academy offers a range of Ofsted-approved courses designed to help clients regain confidence and build a brighter future. The courses include: group facilitation training, counselling skills, peer mentoring, and workshops on independent living and tenancy management.
While classroom-based courses are currently available only to local residents, we encourage all clients to explore educational opportunities as part of their recovery journey.
VOLUNTEERING AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Finding purpose and giving back can play a vital role in sustaining recovery. Our volunteer coordinator helps clients explore oppor tunities within Acorn or similar organisations across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
For those relocating, we provide support in identifying volunteering roles closer to home, ensuring clients remain engaged and connected within their communities. These opportunities offer structure and a sense of purpose, which are key to maintaining longterm recovery.
